This Christmas, SSS sent a huge parcel of craft and haberdashery products to the Network Heaven charity in support of the Sri Lanka Christmas Gift Project. Many orphanages in Sri Lanka have to live solely on charity, so they make cards and other items for sale. SSS was pleased to supply craft supplies for their work so they can raise funds to live. The photo shows a group from St Josephs Home in K’galle busily making craft items to be sold to raise funds for the orphanage.

A terrific contribution of $1,890 is going to be handed over to the Breast Cancer Council thanks to the sterling efforts of Michael Castley, who braved the dread of Heartbreak Hill to run 7,200th out of 69,000 people in the 2012 Sydney City to Surf. Though still stiff and sore in the calves, Michael ran his best time over the last few years at 68mins (which is under 5mins per kilometre). We all applaud him for his contribution towards ongoing research into a cure for this dreadful disease.
And SSS staff have clubbed together to support Michael’s training for the 2013 City to Surf by nominating him to be our Lunch Shop Runner!
